Life during Lockown........

Life during Lockown........

Life was different in the pre-COVID-19 world. This lockdown period has given birth to a new era, having the same human bodies with their newly transformed souls having an improvised thinking and opinions and a broader mindset. It has changed the motive of several actions and services, altered the perspective over various ongoing activities.

The roads, highways used to witness travelers heading for road trips, their enthusiasm and excitement to reach their destined places, their amused faces and overwhelmed eyes to see the new and beautiful places on their way by the road.  It is these very roads that are now witness to our labourers, with no food and money, walking miles to their way home, returning to or with their families, to the place where they originate from. It has seen them craving to reach where the heart lies, has absorbed their sweat they shed and the blood they lost working hard as they could, has heard them sobbing for their family member they lost on the way, has mourned for the braveheart who surrendered their lives to the mother earth not being able to bare the struggle.

The home delivery service was, once upon a time, a symbol of laziness and reluctance of people to get their personal requirements themselves and enjoy sitting at home relaxing by just paying off some extra penny.  The present new era symbolizes this service as a silver lining for people to be safe at their respective homes, ‘NO-CONTACT delivery’ as they term it, now contributes to social distancing and cater to the motive of the lockdown.

A child having fever is taken utmost care by their mothers caressing their head and up the whole night sitting beside her child till he/she recovers. Time has taken an incredulous turn over and the mother is not even allowed to touch her kid suffering from high fever fearing it to be a symptom of the fatal virus around. A person on sneezing who was earlier replied with a ‘God Bless You!’ is now often warned arrogantly saying ‘Stay Away!’.  Small general hospitals refuse to admit patients fearing the spread of Corona Virus in their hospital, neglecting the fact that the person may die of some other fatal disease.  The fear of death has corroded the minds of people and inflicted the sense of humanity as well.

This era has also brought with it a new set of emotions and deepened personal relationships as well in an optimistic way. Giving away more family time to people, it has created more space for understanding and patience replacing insecurity and impulsiveness.  The prolonged wait for spending quality time with family has been given a break, though in an unexpected manner, and they are living their desired part of life.

Life after this will definitely be changed after this so-called ‘COVID-19 era’ is over.  People won’t be just normal people but would be called Corona survivors. They’ll have new vision towards life and would be always grateful and indebted to the Corona warriors.  A new zeal to begin their lives from the start, hardwork and dedication in full swing to overcome the downfall in their economic status, love and affection in the air for the ones they were separated so far, and gratitude towards the Almighty for sparing their lives.
